As a mechanical engineering intern at NatureDots, I worked on the AquaNurch® System and enclosure prototypes for their data collection hardware. AquaNurch® acts as a network of neural node for capturing the pulse of water ecosystems on a real-time basis. It gathers ‘Resource Intelligence’ by capturing the interconnected biophysical, chemical, ecological and anthropogenic disturbances on waterscapes and associated landscapes, currently mapping – lakes, rivers, aquaculture ponds, marine, creek and mangroves.
I can't show much but here are some skills I utilized for the job:
- Developed initial CAD concepts for a hardware device to monitor and analyze human impact on ecosystems.
- Designed compact enclosures that integrated sensitive equipment, sensors, and efficient wire management.
- Engineered enclosures to meet IPX7 standards, ensuring they were water-resistant, insulated, and drop-proof.
- Conducted material research and heat-transfer case studies to recommend optimal materials for specific challenges.
- Created multiple designs using rapid prototyping to facilitate field testing and proof-of-concept validation.
